Part 1 of many….
Standing there in what felt like a ‘one room school house’ brought me to tears. Looking around at each little girl holding a baby to care for. 6-7 year olds taking care of their little siblings. The sounds of worship that rose in that room distinctly made brighter by the sounds of many little feet dancing in the front, praising Jesus. Gazing out the little window seeing my son on the metal swing set playing with his new friends, his blonde hair strikingly bright against beautiful short black curls. The vastness of the earth dimmed and in its place the sheer magnitude of God’s love felt like it was washing over me. He brought me here for such a time as this, at such a time as this.
My heart swelled as my eyes released what years of longing finally made reality. 30 years—3 full decades of longing to be in this land, longing to place my feet on African soil. My God did it. Big dreams can be dreamt, but it’s God that brings them into fruition. The oldest dream I ever carried was to be a missionary in Africa. I stood at the front of that little church and testified of God’s goodness….
