Building Strength

Today I’ve been focused on some areas I’m weak in.

Some physical weaknesses.
Some mothering weaknesses—patience.

I just wanted to focus on how I even became weak in these areas.

Sickness during pregnancy.
Apathy toward rebuilding strength postpartum.
Little moments of instant gratification shaping my habits.

As I focused on these weaknesses through a conversation with Judah and then during a phone call with my best friend and cousin, Jillian, I was deeply encouraged that although I might be weak in some areas, I’m strong in others.

I was also encouraged to move with a plan towards strength.

We live in a world where, if we want something, we can have it almost immediately.
Wanting some veggies? Pre-washed, pre-cut, tossed in the microwave—instant side dishes at the ready.

Children aren’t compatible with this method of instantaneous.
They don’t do things immediately when we ask if they don’t feel like it. They don’t always listen to our first direction.

Muscles aren’t built or bought overnight, and neither is patience. The slow and disciplined road is what I will need to choose.

Weakness tells us where to focus so we can better help our whole self.

This week I will work toward intentionally strengthening myself.

To land the arrow on the target, we need focus, strength, and discipline.

I’m ready to do that. What about you? Do you have areas of measurable weakness that you know in your head you should work on? Are you ready to target them and strengthen yourself? Let’s move toward strength together!
